About the Course


  • The course is designed and offered by the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association
  • Successful course completion earns the student credit towards the Marine Service Technician Apprenticeship program
  • Four week program, in classroom plus site visits
  • Recognized by the American Boat & Yacht Council
  • Uses text book “Fundamentals of Marine Service Technology” (2012) by Ed Sherman, Director of Education Programming, ABYC. Book included in registration cost
  • Program Instructor: Keith Nelder, ABYC Master Technician, Certified Boat Builder (NS), Certified Marine Service Technician (NS)

  • The course is usually held in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia


*Minimum 10 students, otherwise NSBA may re-schedule the course to a later date.

  • Successful students receive Certificate of Completion from NSBA, endorsed by ABYC
  • Credits gained by completing the MST Orientation Course will count towards the MST apprenticeship program
  • Instruction provided by industry professionals
