Understanding what your manufacturing costs are – and then controlling them – sounds straightforward enough, but what methods do you use to do this? Bob Lacovara presents a practical way to keep a handle on your costs that you’ll find easy to implement and maintain.

Seminar 2 – Trends in Commercial Workboat Designs and what influences them, presented by Robert G. Allan, Executive Chairman of the Board, Robert Allan Ltd.

Robert Allan Ltd. is Canada’s leading workboat designer, well-known for its distinctive designs for tugboats, patrol and SAR craft, fireboats, fishing boats and crewboats. But what is influencing trends in workboat designs? Is it the market, or regulations, or technology? Hear Robert Allan’s answers to these and other related questions.

In an open letter to Canada’s party leaders in 2015, Jayson Myers outlined a long-term growth strategy for Canadian manufacturers that identifies investment, innovation, skills, and business opportunities as key issues. Hear Jayson Myers’ views on how manufacturers, including boatbuilders, can help secure business growth in a competitive global market.

Canada’s marine industry has to make some changes if it’s to attract the next generation of boatbuilders, technicians, salespeople, and managers. Hear Andy Adams explain his views on what these changes are, how they can be implemented, and why they’re critical for the future success of the industry.

Seminar 5 – Innovations in Power and Sailboat Designs, presented by Nigel Irens, Principal, Nigel Irens Design Ltd.

There’s no shortage of production boats out there, but for those looking for something special, then there’s probably a Nigel Irens’ design that fits the bill. Learn about the innovations Nigel has brought to monohull and multi-hull powerboats and sailboats over the past two decades – including some built in Nova Scotia – and what he envisages in the near future.
