ABYC Marine Corrosion Certification
The Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association will be holding a 4-day Marine Corrosion Certification Course. It will be held at the Future Inns Halifax, 30 Fairfax Drive, on October 5th to 8th.
There will be no charge for attendance but you will be responsible for providing your own meal and refreshments. The course will cover all aspects of marine corrosion including:
- General corrosion theory
- Identifying types of corrosion
- Properties of marine building materials
- Corrosion control methods and applications
- Sacrificial cathode protection systems and impressed current systems
- Protective coatings and methodology and performing a corrosion survey
As part of registering you will receive the Marine Corrosion Study Guide in the mail. In addition, you will receive The Boatowner’s Guide to Corrosion by Everett Collier. The textbook will be available in class, which concludes with a 200 question certification exam.
